Response
Tonsillitis can be caused by bacteria and viruses other than the glandular fever virus. It is common to feel run down for a while after any significant throat infection. The test for glandular fever is likely to have shown positive if it was not taken too early during the acute infection. We usually recommend that you wait to have the blood test until at least five days has passed from the time you felt unwell. If you continue to feel unwell you should re-visit your doctor to make sure that there is no other possible cause for the tiredness.
