Smelly feet

There are two main causes of smelly feet and both are encouraged by damp, humid environments, ie sweaty feet in trainers and boots!

Athletes foot

Pitted keratolysis.
This is a condition where the sole of the foot goes white with punched out areas (pits). It is always associated with hyperhidrosis. The skin becomes infected with certain bacteria. Treatment consists of good hygiene, antibiotic cream and antiperspirants to the soles of the feet. For more information visit dermnet
